This device serves two purposes. In this case, it is repositioning a temporary
piling. The piling has a steel plate secured into a slot with two heavy bolts. The bottom of the device has hydraulic
jaws which grab it with about 1500 psi. It can be lifted and moved around. Once
the piling (or bulkhead section) is in position, it vibrates and forces the
piling down into the bottom.

These heavy timbers were removed from the North dock area. According to one of
our members, they apparently were part of an old marine railway located on this
site many years ago. After being buried in the mud for so long, they appeared to
be quite sound.

These piling are all that remain of the North Dock. They are being left to
provide a place to secure the new dock sections as they arrive.

The big one in the middle was about 12 inches square. It appeared to be hard as
a rock!

This view from the North Dock area gives one a different perspective of the club
area.

This is another view from the North Dock area. That's lots of open water
there............
The ole Hampton Creek looks a lot bigger without a lot of docks in the way!

What
the heck are these? If you said bulkhead sections, give yourself an A!

Here are the bulkhead sections as they look in place.
The Dredge was not working this
afternoon. It had filled the mud barge to the point where any more would have it
on the bottom, so it was taken away to be emptied.
