SUMMER JUNIOR PROGRAM APPLICATION

The Hampton Yacht Club will conduct its summer sailing program for Juniors, ages 9 thru 17, at the Club. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of seamanship and safety afloat and to provide basic sailing instruction as well as coaching in racing techniques for more advanced students. An experienced staff of full time instructors will be available. We anticipate a great year for this program of sailing and fun, which has shown repeatedly to be one of the best on the Chesapeake Bay.
The program will start on June 16, 2008 and end on August 8, 2008. Early submittal of application is advised.
Space may be limited.
An organizational meeting will be held to present an overview of the program on June 10 @ 7:00pm and introduce you to the instructors. Parents are urged to attend.
Tuition for 2008 will be:

The fee includes HYC Junior Membership, and the cost of the instructional manuals.
The sailing program will utilize the two person club 420's (8), the one person Optimist Dinghy (20) and several Rowing Dinghy's. Advanced instruction in "bring your own" Lasers and Laser Radials will be provided for race with prior approval of the head instructor. Arrangements may be made by those who have their own Optimists/420's/Lasers to keep them at the Club for the duration of the program on a first come first served basis. Racks may be rented by the summer or year.
Each Junior MUST have their own life jacket with him or her at all times, and MUST be able to swim at least 50 yards. Juniors will be required to demonstrate their swimming ability, prior to beginning Program instruction and MUST be able to tread water for five minutes.
