    30 boats made it to the line on New Years Day for the Y2K Millennium Madness Regatta....Not a cloud in the sky, temperature in the 70's, wind from the SW at 8 to 10......started by a breakfast buffet at HYC and followed by Clam Chowder at Old Point's Chamberlin Hotel......What a day to start the next one thousand years!!!!!! HYC sailors took line honors in all three fleets... EXCEPT....well, first the good news:

Dariene DeRyder accepts Excalibur's First Place Champagne Magnum for Cruising Class........

Bill Peach sailed Surprise to a First in the Non Spinnaker Class.......

Greg Cutter's Gremellyn crew looks ready to sip their First Place Spinnaker Class Magnum............

OPCYC Commodore Rhett Tignor happily accepts the "Clean Cleat" award for winning the Club competition for finishing 16 boats....

Meanwhile...OH NO!!, Doug Perry, HYC Commodore,  receives the "Fowled Cleat" award as HYC only finished 12 boats. Who were those DNF/S/Cs.........??

According to the deed of gift, HYC has to wait until New Year's Day 3000 to un-defend this award!!!!!
