Powerboat cruising involves a number of diverse water-related pleasure activities. Each year there is a long-range cruise either within the Chesapeake Bay or northern North Carolina. In June, the group travels to the Chickahominy River for a long weekend of fellowship and fun. A similar trip takes place in August at the Eastern Shore in conjunction with sailboat cruisers. Other popular destinations include Tides Inn, Deltaville, Mathews, Indian Creek, and Windmill Point.
In August, a clamming trip is held followed by a party under the Flag Deck. The Species Fishing Tournament follows in September where there are prizes for the HYC boat with the most species of fish caught. Lastly, the very popular Rockfish Tournament is held in December with multiple prizes awarded to the members for their catches.
